First Flower

Peep was the first flowers I received from P.Ou. It is not the flower that anyone can buy from market, so I, and everyone, knew it was from him and he picked it from his front yard.

Peep or Kazalong is in Bignoniaceae family. The species name is Millingtonia hortensis L.f. and the common name is Cork Tree since bark can use for making bottle-cork. It is botanic plant. Flower is white with fragrant and uses to cure asthma. Root uses for lung tonic and to cure tuberculosis.

Peep has auspicious meaning in traditional Thai. It is believed that house with Peep makes householder retain his prosperity since Peep is the name that old Thai call their coffer. It also makes householder has reputation since its strength and density of stalk can make loud voice when knocks. It is told that Peep should grow in the west and on Saturday. It is also more propitious that the grower was born on Monday because Peep is the flower of Nang Korakadavi who is a daughter of Pra Indra and lady of Monday. In addition, there is more favorable if householder was born on Monday.

KFC & Coleslaw

I haven't been to KFC for a long time since they changed coleslaw to tuna-corn salad. In my view, coleslaw did perfectly go together with KFC fried chicken for many, many years. I don't know their reason of changing. Firstly, I thought it happened only in Thailand. However I found out that it also happened in Shanghai and Singapore, but not in Paris and Australia. So it might be its policy to make it difference all over Asia, which I think it is absolutely wrong. Tuna-corn salad is so juicy, may be fattier than coleslaw, and more important, it is not going well with KFC. Please bring back the traditional KFC’s coleslaw, changes do not always mean better.

Closing Gap!

I could not remember when I began to be interested in P.Ou. It might be from his appearance, his though or his intelligence. I like smart people so he did impress me. He also knew this, so he was nice to me but kept distances between us. However, the gap was closed in March 2003. He said that it might be some risks that we did not end up together because there were lots of concerns, I agreed on that.

Team Building for Securitization

2001 was one of my remarkable years, Trinities Securities Group was found and I joined the Trinity Advisory 2001 Co., Ltd., an advisory company of the group. Since the group was small as well as the market share and placement power were not well-built, thus its policy was to create the difference and initiate new product to approach new clients. I was not sure who brought in the idea of Securitization. I was told to join the team, led by P.Ou and Oliver Hughes from Devonshire Capital, our partner for this project.

Firstly, the team was educated by P.Ou and Oliver who experienced launching securitization products. We consulted with SEC officers several possible cases as well as visited many potential clients. We also teamed up with legal advisor and accounting & tax advisor in order to structure the deal.

Securitization is a financing process to separate assets from originator through legally transfer (true sale) to Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). SPV issues marketable debt securities and sells to investors, the risk and return of securities rely on cash flow generated by pool of assets that sold to SPV, not the performance of originator, some credit enhancements also employ in order to achieve desired credit rating.

It is also called structured finance. It can be structured differently, depending on types and quality of assets, credit enhancement used, target investors, desired credit rating, and etc. The first deal was not only hard to understand, but involved many parties; we had to educate and convince them to agree with our ideas and to charge on the same basis. It took about 2 years to accomplish our first issue, Osprey Series I - ABCP (Asset Backed Commercial Paper) backed by NHA Residential Hire Purchase in 2002.

Currently, there are various securitization products in the market; you may consider as your investment alternatives.

Khao Kho

IB (Investment Banking) usually cannot plan for a long trip because the schedule relies on clients' demand. However, since P.Tong has a cozy house at Khao Kho, so we did not need to book for anything. We, together with P.Kae and P.Ou's family, went there in February 2003. I show you an old day picture, let's see who still works at IB Trinity.

My Own Children

Normally, when you are almost 30, you will be asked when you get married, and after you get married, for many years, you will be asked when you have children. For Me! I have been married for 3 years without any sign of pregnant and it seems like all my friends have children. That's why my mom is so worried about me. She always insists me to have my own child because she concerns that I am going to be alone when I am old. This topic has been raised and mutually agreed between me and P.Ou before wedding. P.Ou is 10+ years older than me and thinks it is enough to have only one child. At present, I am chilling with my life. Raising children is a long-term responsibilities which I am not ready for it. Money is also another problem.
I wish that there is nice home-stay for old people by that time. Who will stay with me?

First Met!

End of 1999, I moved to new office at 45th floor United Center Bldg. on Silom Rd., it was so exciting since there were much more activities than Rajdamri. The company occupies 4 floors so its staffs may not know one another. One day mid of 2000, I heard from one of my colleague that a newcomer guy, head of fixed income dept., asked our prettiest girl to lunch. Wow! How dare he was. I did not know about this that time but almost everyone in IB went to Langsuan Shark Fin Restaurant, I remembered that we ate a lot, dim sum, BBQ suckling pig, beijing duck,... and finally we shared the bill. I asked him how he felt that day. He said he couldn't believe how IB people here ate that much. That was our first met.
